Find out who farms the field and ask them if they know anything about the tile. Or maybe some of your other neighbors know. Trees often cause problems with tile. There could be nothing wrong with it and it is just too small to handle all the water upstream at peak flows.
When I asked the neighbors, they just shrugged and said "well, it's always done that." I don't want to be a free retaining pond! :)
Can I put a check valve in, right where the red and the blue meet? I wouldn't want it at the surface inlet, it will build too much pressure and blow out the tile.
Or is there a stand-pipe I can insert into the inlet during high flow events, to raise the necessary head pressure to backflow? How would it seal?
