| There are about 125 gdu on the metric scale for each leaf. Metric is the easiest to use with wheat because 0 is no degrees. Figure out which leaf is fully out by peeling all leaves off the bottom until you get to the first/bottom node (about 4-6” from soil surface). The leaf attached to the bottom node is 4th from last. Catch 12.5 gdu Celcius per day for 10 days and get another leaf. If fourth leaf from top is fully open, your timing guess should be close. Flag leaf coming out in 20 days, fully unwrapped in 30, IF you’re getting 12.5 gdu per day on avg. Catch some days with 20 gdu and things really move fast! | |
