20% of the seed that is sold would make up around 7.5 million units of corn sold in the US. 20% would break up the oligopoly that the Big ag is currently running. I'm also aware that Big ag is entrenched and the big producers don't pay the same price as the smaller farmers, which is problematic. Part of the issue that Independent's run into is the smaller farmer believing that they don't buy enough to make any difference or their order isn't worth the effort but every Independent seed company wants those orders and it is worth our effort.
but the small independents don't court the wannebes with private flights to the Caribbean, luxury box tickets to pro sports, golfing on the high end golf courses and free toys, so they lost 50% of those 7.5 million acres to the farmers who like to buy their pampering through via their seed orders so it is tax deductible. |
