Ohio | SCO is through your crop insurance agent.
Gleaner makes a great point that you are only showing 40 some acres of corn base, but will be planting 100. That is a good situation to do PLC on the corn base and then purchase SCO. Another way to look at it is if you grow corn on 100 acres, but only have 40 base acres, you are only covering 40% of your risk with ARC. By buying the SCO option in addition to your traditional policy you have county based coverage up to 86% of revenue guarantee. Yes it will cost some money, but now you have coverage based on revenue risk by buying SCO in addition to the risk of poor prices covered by the PLC program. I would ask for a quote on the SCO option from your insurance agent to see if it is affordable for your situation.
If your milo planted acres are less than your base acres you can probably feel more comfortable going with ARC-Co for that base. | |
