Georgia | What you are seeing is wild mustard. The guys that are strictly cotton peanut rotation don’t seem to care much about controlling it. It’s usually flowering in March and sometimes a lot of cotton ground doesn’t get worked up around here till mid April. Any sign of mustard is gone late April. Now The guys that have small grain in their rotation try very hard to control it. Red sorrel is the other weed you are seeing. Not nearly as much a problem as the mustard. I’ve only seen maybe a couple hundred acres of canola say within a hour of here in the last TEN years. Delivery point is too far. There is a company that has been contracting a crop called carinata in this area for a few years. Looks very similar to canola. There is a grower in the county over that grows a couple hundred acres a year.
