Floyd County, Iowa | I spray thistles with Grazon and a touch of non-ionic. If the thistle patch is thick, it sometimes takes a couple applications. So happens that thistles grow where there's scouring rush. I noticed that when I get the thistles cleaned out, the scouring rush disappears there, too.
The other thing that works for me is to keep it mowed. I've got some CRP filter strips that have some coming in it. Keep it mowed and the scouring rush eventually thins out and disappears.
Neither of these methods is a surefire instant kill, but it works for me, at least to keep it under control. | |
