Automated transmissions are proven and widely accepted in today's truck market. Any "serious" problems are more likely the fault of the dope working on it.
What dope makes the computer stop switching from high to low range? 7-8 years ago they were almost $5k for a replacement and that didn’t include labor. The auto shifts are just something else to go wrong. They are great when they work but having a truck down over electrical problems in the trans is not something I need again.
