Sioux County, NWIA | Spark plugs are somewhat difficult to evaluate based on pictures. I don’t see anything to be very concerned about. As long as that plug with the darker insulator nose doesn’t get darker. A thin layer of black on the nose indicates a significantly rich mixture, and at some point that plug will short through that layer of black carbon. That carbon can never be cleaned enough to make the plug work. Oil fouling will cause a more voluminous buildup and eventually makes the plug misfire. Oil fouling can almost always be cleaned and the plug reused. I don’t see oil fouling there. Plugs are cheap enough to toss and replace periodically. Put a little grease on the threads so they don’t seize. | |
