We have both , I think a 3306 at 300hp will outlast a L10 . I know the 3306’s in the Steiger were nobody’s favorite but we like ours in our cat challenger.

I think most if not all of the 3306's in Steiger's were the old style with precombustion chambers, some at 225 HP and some with the higher setting of 270 HP. Later engines were direct injection. People wanted more power than the 3306 could reliably give. Also compared to the 855 Cummins, they simply did not have the torque off the line, even with similar horsepower settings. The other thing, it was no problem to turn the 855 to 335 HP without an aftercooler. The 3306 would not last if it was turned up. One local farmer actually swapped out the 3306 for an 855 because the 3306 could not pull the seeding diskers from a standing start in the ground.
