Use a latching relay circuit, much like a motor starter on an electric motor.
You need a momentary switch to turn on the relay. Run the output of the relay, back to the coil wire and it will stay engaged. A separate normally closed momentary button would be used to stop the relay.
You could also use a multipole switch that would interrupt the power to the starting circuit if the switch is left on.
Need a switch for pto that will reset once power is cycled.
