I was getting ready to post in the rollover thread below, but might as well go here. Switch plows seem to have been a passing fad here. (W CO). When they came out, everybody tried them, lot of guys bought them, & it seems now they're being parked or traded off. The downfall here is hard. dry conditions, like things get here sometimes. Tough adobe or shale ground, the switch plows won't roll it over, just stand it on edge, & the draft is unreal in those conditions. The moldboard plow is alive & well here, once in a while somebody hits conditions just right & is able to no-till corn, but not very often. I don't think there's been a one-way around since 2-ways were invented. Dead furrows in irrigated ground just don't cut it...all that said, in the right conditions, switchers do a nice job, & the maintenance is a lot less...
