| Had one for a few years. ended up selling it to a buddy.
Positives - They are very rugged and dependable - especially if you get the stainless/synthetic stock. Toss them behind the pickup seat and away you go.
Negatives - Lousy trigger, I sent my trigger group out to a guy in WA who reworked it to make for a lighter & smoother pull - helped a lot.
Accuracy sucks compared to a regular sporting rifle. They're good enough to hit a pop can at 100 yrds, but that's about it. Some are better than others - just depends if you get a good one or not.
The guy who said the SKS is a military rifle and the Mini14 isn't doesn't know the history of the Mini. Ruger developed the Mini14 as a military rifle. The bolt and action are a miniaturized version of the .308 M14 - thus the name "Mini 14". The military went with the M16 instead - some say because it was futuristic looking and sexier. | |
