NE Iowa | Iowa State Fair is very heavy on livestock, but pretty light on equipment. If you are interested in a particular type of livestock, make sure to check out the detailed schedule, as animals are constantly moving in and out of the barns. I don't know the number, but the number of hooves on the fairgrounds during the entire fair has got to be huge.
My folks have spent the entire time at the fair for quite a few years. They enjoy the political scene, as nearly all serious candidates show up at some time or another to shake hands, kiss babies, and make a speech. There is a specific place they are allowed/asked to give a speech. They do roam the grounds with their entourage, but that disruption is minimal unless you are in close proximity to them. I think my folks had Jeb Busch sit down and eat next to them in the Cattlemen's Beef Quarters last time around. | |
