Funny you mention Birkenstock, I wear them 30+ years now in the house but also outdoors (strictly not for working).
Us germans are quite infamous for wearing this type of footwear inappropriately, but I can live with this criticism :-)
Oh I have other Birks too. Plastic Birki clogs for outside the house and in the garage. I have sandals and leather clogs for street use too. I have worn them for many years and even had my house sandals rebuilt by a local shoe repair shop to like new condition for $46.
