Kingston,Mi
Well that would be one way of keeping it out of the lakes. Brother took me out to the Stanton Township park at the west entrance to the Portage Canal and the continuing problem with people entering the restricted treated area. For those who need an explanation of stamp sand, it is a nearly uniform sand that is man made. Ore from the copper mines was run thru a stamp mills which crushed it to a uniform size then the copper was floated off to be formed in to ingots. The waste product was dumped into the waters around the Keweenaw Peninsula. The stamp sand at the township park came from a stamp mill at Freda, about 15 miles away.
