NW Central Ohio
..Most of your linoleum floors have been waxed..and probably multiple times. So..you're actually looking to strip the wax off to get it down to the clean linoleum. That said..there are a lot of ways to do it....some use very strong ammonia solutions, but it's definitely hard on the nose. I personally would encourage you to use some "degreaser". Something like Purple Power. It has a label on it that says can be used for stripping wax. Any degreaser is fine....most have the sodium hydroxide in them that you need to soften the wax. You also have to do a bit of scrubbing too...so maybe if you can find an old carpet shampooer...it might help you out quite a bit. Mopping up and then mopping a second time right away is probably necessary..with quite a bit of water changes. Maybe you could talk the Stanley Steamer guys to come out and follow you while you scrub, and they scrub and suck up the rinse water.
