SW Ont | I'm of that age as well (learned to drive in english units, SI introduced soon enough that engineering program taken in both...)
I've driven enough miles with english unit speedos and metric speed limits (and vice versa) that I'm comfortable doing conversions in my head on the fly.
Just need to remember a couple of basic conversions and the 6 to 10 ratio to estimate the rest.
If I had an 'older' car, I wouldn't be installing a dash with different units than what it was born with.
GPS on the dash could provide an alternate solution
