NC Kansas | Wife always books our trips and we've been to Vegas twice. Timing of when you go and when you purchase can make some big differences. She knows all the secrets, lean on your friends and see what they do for flight/hotel.
Vegas is a lot of fun and only as expensive as you want to make it. It's cheap to get there and stay compared to any other destination vacation. Only thing I enjoy more is a trip to the mountains and some solitude.
2 tips... take a good pair of comfortable walking shoes. Unless you are a runner you will travel farther on foot than you are used to.
If you like to partake in some day drinking, because you are an adult and in vegas and you can, go to the walgreens and buy a small bottle of your favorite libation and a few solo cups and whatever you like for mixers. Mix up your own drink before you leave your hotel room. you can carry it in and out of any place you want to go (except restaurants maybe?)
Buying drinks in vegas is super expensive and waiting on a "free" drink while you are gambling can get incredibly expensive.
You can buy a bottle, some cups and some pop at Walgreens (or other liquor stores) for $30-$40 and be set up for 3 days. Or you can spend $30-$40 on 3 drinks.
