Drunks and their enablers like you relying on the disease card to excuse their behavior is what turns me off. I actually think the disease thing is a stretch. Alcoholics choose drinking over sobriety. I get that it is an addiction but how are most addictions treated? In the case of alcoholism most times the person is the only one who can cure themselves. They finally have that epiphany or defining moment when they figure enough is enough and resolve to do something about it. They take personal responsibility for their actions and do the hard work of quitting just as they made the decision to keep drinking over the years. Don’t you dare compare someone being a drunk to someone suffering with cancer. You have no idea what you are talking about. Walk a mile in my shoes and get back to me Richard. One other question for you. If this man had run into a school bus full of children and killed some of them what would your reaction be? Well heck he has a disease.
