Owensville Ohio | We have had a fiend and his wife deer hunt on our farm for the past 25 years . They didn't eat any meat other than venison . They probably shot 125 deer in those years of hunting on our place always taking more does than bucks . He helped put up hay , cut firewood ,gave me knives and even traded my son a few tin of pellets once . He built and shot his own muzzle loaders , both pistol and rifles . He would shoot a deer running in the head at 50 yards because he didn't want to waste the meat . He was a meat cutter and a USDA meat inspector .
All of this came crashing to a halt last fall while he was climbing his stand in his back yard . The ladder collapsed under him , having rusted out from within the tubing . He broke his ankle and cracked a vertebra . He is still not healed and probably never will be back to his old self . He is having to quit doing just about everything because of the pain .. I sure will miss seeing him in the woods .
I now only use a tree stand for two years and then scrap it . | |
