Always liked that big engine in the vertical stabilizer on the DC-10. Only was in one once. I will give a second on the DC-10. A couple of major accidents was not good for it early on. Improper engine change procedures led to a broken bolt on the AAL crash at O’Hare and a hydraulic line with the Souix City crash. Not sure what was fixed after that incident.
I remember the O'hare crash. Plane ended up in the trailer park On touhy avenue that I lived at in 1970. The park was right at the end of the runway. Very noisy, and not very safe either. |
