We are considering a new basement under an existing house that can't be lifted because of attached garage. We wanted to go with poured walls, but contractor said it wouldn't work because they can't fill the forms full without lifting house. Therefore a block basement is our best option.


Similar deal here. Landlord had the foundation replaced on an old barn. Poured a concrete wall within 8" of the beam. Filled in with a single course of solid block.
