Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | Great story. That farmer made an impression on those kids lives that he will never know. We all need to do that more often.
Each year I invite someone from town out to ride in the combine. I have 2-3 to call this fall when we get closer to them. It's good public relations. And it gives me a chance to talk about some ag questions they have. It makes a person feel good about doing it too. Inviting kids out would even be better.
I have always thought agri-tourism could be a profitable venture but coordinating rides during harvest and dealing with the weather would be a challenge. I have gone on tours in other countries to farms and watched sheep shearing for example. I often thought...people would pay to ride in a combine! |
