I had a insurance company jacking me around once so I decided to switch. My policy said it would immediately cancel if I didn't pay by the due date so I just let go. Never called them to tell them I was canceling. End of story I thought.
Month or 2 later I get a bill from them for $50-60. I called them up and asked what the charges were for since I let my policy cancel. They said my policy never canceled even though I didn't pay and that I was still covered and I needed to pay them. I said I wasn't paying for charges after my policy had expired and they hounded me for something like a year with threatening letters from collection agencies before they finally gave up. Hopefully they spent more in fees to a couple collection agencies than the $50 they were trying to collect.
