We have a very modest trade deficit of some $20 billion in goods but a modest surplus when you count all goods & services. The question ought to be, why is the trump administration treating Canada & Canadians this way? Certainly there is no economic necessity for this.
And even if trump wins which isn't a sure thing what happens afterwards.
Ask yourself, trump gave away the store to Kim and Kim is real enemy. We're at war with North Korea yet trump conceded everything to Kim. What's to gain by alienating your neighbors ?
He's afraid of N Korea so he's kissing a$$. He still has to show he's tough so he talks down to his biggest trade partner the way a tough guy talks down to his wife at a dinner party. Seriously if y'all don't want a deal we have all rocks and trees and oil and food and water and milk and meat we need up here. Don't need Chinese-American Walmart junk. In the absence of a NAFTA deal the CDN dollar will fall enough to make up for any tariff. Time to build a wall down the middle of the great lakes and stop the Corps of Engineers from siphoning off outr water with that pipeline LOL
