Did you call ahead to let them know you were coming? Cattle sell a lot better at the barn I use mostly if I do that. (Shipshewana, IN)
Why is that?
I’m not sure. Where I’m at isn’t “cattle country” so there aren’t as many buyers. I guess this is more true on feeder cattle, the barn owner will maybe advertise them if he knows a few days or a week ahead to drum up more interest. Probably not as true on fats. Although they do want them absolutely sloppy fat to top the sale here. Not sure if that everywhere or just here.
