There was a significant design change several years ago, and it cured the failures. Nothing is indestructible, but I've used 10's of thousands of the new design without the failures that many people associate with them. That said, I mostly tie knots, but that isn't always profitable with a crew. I can teach a new guy to use a Gripple in about 12 and a half seconds. Understanding knots is a bit longer lesson.
