So...the instructions to Israel in the Old Testament was to offer a sacrifice of an animal without spot or blemish.  I don't think many of those animals volunteered to be a sacrifice, but they were a sacrifice nonetheless.  "Harvest" is an attempt to make it prettier than it is.  I am fine with the consumer knowing what it is we do, better that than HSUS or ASPCA literature.



The thing that makes the "sacrifice" in your example is someone taking something of value that they own and giving it to God.

Sacrifice = giving something you own away for no gain for yourself.

Harvest = trading something you own for something you want.

Scottjoe wants to value all life equally, that isn't accurate.

P.S. If a vegan eats a dinner of nuts and berries is he absolved from saying grace because no "sacrifice" was made?
