When you say faster, are you talking 0-60? 1/4 mile? V-max? Lap times?

The issue with sports bikes acceleration is that in order to get them to change direction quickly the wheel base needs to be short, so full power starts can see the bike flip on it's back. I've never attempted a full on drag race race from a standing start (clutch in, full throttle etc ) on my CBR600F, which isn't a fast bike, but even so, it's all I can do to hang on to it. The current litre sports bikes a nigh on double the power of mine and a little ligher too. I'm glad people people put V8's in bikes as an engineering exercise but I'd be surprised if they were any faster in most measures of straight line performance than 1000cc sprts bike and on anything remotely twisty wouldn't see where most bikes over 600cc went. Mind you, if you're used to a Harley....
