Culbertson, MT | Just enough hail with the 2-3" rain in 1/2 hour to rough the grass up. Its a good grass year, and I took full advantage of some tame grass grazing earlier so might as well move 'em. And, they've been bunching up in a corner with a weak fence so...! It's the Range Conservationist in me, I know how I want the moves but just struggle to find the time! I'm trying to justify a 6000' pipeline extension and 3/4 mile of fencing that would enable going back to grass on 80 acres of so-so cropland and splitting up 240 ac of dryland mixed hay into 3 80's. $ and time, $ and time....
The train derailment was SE of these pictures 3 miles. Wind was steady at 40+ with gusts to 80-90 mph. Devastating hail to the north from me, we only got a little. But most importantly, no one hurt. I was pleasantly surprised afterwards that I didn't have any buildings tore up. Couple windbreaks to stand up and 3 barn windows, easy enough. | |
