| Where are you looking. This is what the Dalian Commodity Exchange is showing for No. 2 soybeans priced in Yuan per metric tonne, 3370 Yuan per ton which works out to about $13.80 per bushel. The latest US grain transportation report show ocean freight at $35/tonne Brazil to China or $1 per bushel.
Knock a dollar off the $13.88 and you got $12.88 FOB Santos or Paranagua. In contrast the price of soybeans on the Gulf is $325 tonne or $8.87 per bushel which is right in line with the current cash price of $8.30.
I don't see what your question is? There is a $4 per bushel difference between US and Brazilian beans, $2 for the tariff and $2 premium not to have to buy US beans from those yankee devils.
PS: April first was right about the time this whole tariff thing took off. It was at that time the Chinese seriously started looking for coverage in Brazil. Apparently they've gotten a lot more comfortable with the soybean situation since then.
