| I really don't think the "heat" is the story. I think this is more of an accellerated maturity story that equals a somewhat shorter grain fill period. At this time, the corn belt has not experienced a prolonged high heat wave, but rather mutltiple weeks of above nornmal GDU accumulation. This trend looks to continue, although the next 3 days do bring a cool down (to normal mean temperatures). Check back in two weeks, if the large portion of corn belt is still 350+ GDUs ahead of normal, grain fill will not match last year.
