southern MN | It's small numbers in the big picture, but it is difficult to believe MN went the direction they indicate.
We had a tough spring weather wise and dollar wise, in my bigger back yard I see more drowned out bean fields than drowned out corn fields, I would have expected more bean aces and less corn acres by a small amount.
Minnesota is strong corn and soybean state, with some northern wheat and relatively small acres of peas, sweet corn, alfalfa, and sugar beets. It is puzzling how two of the main crops can go up, and the third only goes down a small bit.
In theory the buffer strips alone are taking 125-300,000 acres of crop land out of production here, tho I believe some don't need to be planted until November so could still be cropped if one feels a November planting will meet the specs.....
Again, the state is big and I only see a few 100 mile circle so it can be what they say.
