Lots of farmers have in excess of $500k-$1M value at risk. Problem is they have no plan or idea how mitigate that risk and they don’t take any necessary steps toward learning or attempting to find a way how to manage it. Even after personally offering too show them. Even after multiple years of taking a beating in the markets. Then when in contact with them all you ever hear is “It’s the govt. It’s the elevators stealing. It’s the dang broker taking my money. It’s the funds. Yada, yada, yada”.
If a trader we re to step into a pit and put on $1M of risk in whatever asset class you want. And he were to lose 50% of that $1M because he didn’t take steps to manage his losses or because he didn’t know what he was buying or selling would you have a pity party for him? I don’t know about you but if I m entering a market I m sure as heck gonna learn how the heck it works. I don’t touch equities anymore bc there is way more brain and computing power in that market for me to go up against.
