North Dakota | I agree vociferously. MTBE was the agent orange of the 90’s. It is a travesty to use oxygenate additives that are so destructive to the environment and it’s inhabitants when we have a natural alternative in ethanol. This angle has been underplayed IMHO in this whole debate. Here we are pushing all this costly emission technology to reduced particulates and we want to add harmful chemicals to the mix as oxygenates. I am well aware we use chemicals to raise the crops to produce ethanol but they are spread over a wide geographic area. Those alternative oxygenate chemicals are concentrated in urban areas where human population is most dense. | |
