North Central Illinois | This is completely out of our control. We just have to sit back and let this thing wash through. We have no idea what will happen but the best we can hope is that there is negotiating that leads to an agreement both sides can live with. How far back and how quickly markets would rebound on news of any agreement is open for debate too. The timing of this whole thing is really good or really sucks depending on your point of view. The next couple of weeks is the time frame in which markets usually tank at least temporarily anyway. Maybe it is good to get the seasonal tendency and the trade fears all out of the way at once. On the other hand the phrase "adding insult to injury" comes to mind also. No matter what your feelings are politically this thing is out of our control so we best just sit back and watch. Honestly, this is the time of year when many are hesitant to make sales anyway or flat out refuse to. I'm speaking of new crop. We have at least 12 more months to market new crop and a lot can happen in that time. If you are holding old crop you were playing with fire and sometimes you get burned. | |
