Subject: Crop conditions

NW Indiana
Corn 78% G/E +1%
Soybeans 73% G/E -1%
Soybeans 97% planted vs 91% 5 year avg

Lots of comments on here from the MN guys but yet usda has corn at 88% and beans 83% which has to be nearing record levels. So MN guys are they simply wrong again?
The I states are looking very strong also. I will concur on others comments on here that heat doesn't make big crops. I have mentioned on here several times about the amount of time from silk to dent avg 40 days. The big crops have been as much as 46-47 days and lesser crops as low as 32-33 days. If I recall correctly 2010 was around 34 days in central IL and we know how that turned out. Don smith even started making us nice charts proving this theory. I'm penciling in a 180 yield right now at current price. Even with good crop conditions if the heat continues I see little chance of reaching that yield.
