I own a phantom 4+ and absolutely love it. However, if I was doing it all over again, I would go with the Mavic Pro.
1) smaller transport size. I carry my Phantom in a hard case, ends up being about 40+lbs and is big.
2) Customizable. From skins to mods the mavic seems like it is taking over in the aftermarket features. I'd love to have a mavic and buy one of the battery mods to double my flight time! But in all seriousness, just like every hobby it is as expensive as you make it. Mavic has the best options.
3) In your case, age. Why buy a phantom that is a model year behind if you are considering a Mavic Pro?
