Ottawa Valley, Eastern Ontario | I had the same issue with a 1042 that is about ten years old. Only about 250 hours on it. The first 3-4 years everything ran fine. After that it started blowing 3-4 deck belts per year. I took it to the dealer a few times and it would be better for a short time and then back to the same old BS. It finally blew a pulley on the deck at the end of last year and I parked it. Went and bought a Husqvarna this spring and so far it’s working well. Seems very well built. The Cub Cadet deck was junk in my opinion.
