Tracphone is the way to go. We haven't had a land line in 15 years. My kids are big enough for there own phone. When they were small like yours, we kept what we called the farm phone. A little trac phone. They could slip it in their pocket, when they ventured out. I could be out on the farm, while they were playing at the house, and they could call me if necessary.
