Polk County is tough for farming. Quite a ways from markets and just far enough north it's not the greatest of farm country. I'd venture there is more hobby farming, like a lot of places and a few big operators. Not so much left in between. Small beef herds are most common.


Depends where you are in the county. In the south and the west parts of the county have many dairies and large grain farms. Even up in the sticks are a couple large dairies. The county has a nice mix.
