| Had a couple in my church congregation years ago. He was a large, "strapping" guy, a retired farmer, and she was not a small person, either. As they aged, she "slipped a cog, or two", mentally, and now and then would thump him around pretty good. He was sufficiently dedicated to her and their marriage, so that he stayed with her, and mostly just "took it". He mostly lived in the basement of the house, while she ruled the main floor. She started writing threatening letters to civic and community leaders/politicians. and the authorities decided to track down the source of those letters. Situation all came to light when local law enforcement found her out to be the author of those letters, a lady in her 80's. Husband told them he thought she was mostly harmless, and he'd keep her under surveilence....in the mean time, she continued to beat him periodically.... showboat | |
