Faunsdale, AL | When the unloader has been sitting on the silage it is usually nearly worthless. Scrap metal and whatever you can get for the motor and maybe a few good parts that were not touching the surface and are rusted out.
If it has been hanging on the cable suspended off the surface, it might have some value if there is anyone using upright silos in your area. Once it is removed it needs to be stored in a dry place. Those would be pretty small unloaders for most folks that still use them.
The biggest thing is if there is still much silage in the silo so the parts have to be lowered down the chute with a winch. A couple folks with hand tools can disassemble one and hand it out the bottom door of a silo in an hour or two but climbing up and then trying to work on the rotten top of the silage remaining in the silo and then lowering everything down to the ground would make for a bad day. | |
