Fairbury, NE (Southeast) | We planted extends on the high pressure TWH areas. We flooded out on the river bottoms in 2015 and TWH exploded after that. Liberty in 2016 with mixed success, Extends went better this year. Of course the pres are the most important. In terms of yield the RR2 varieties were on par with the extends. Now dealing with stem borer on the last acres of beans. getting a 2-8 bu hit on them which is a big ugly.
I've posted numerous times how the extend program is a sham if you have to plant it "because the neighbors do" I'm convinced that a good pre program, especially on irrigated where you can water it in, will produce a very good weed program. not perfect but very good. All in all not a good situation. | |
