Northwest Iowa
Iseedit is on the right track. Fund managers have to find a place for the money coming in to get a return. Dollars are an excess commodity. CDs and other bank issued instruments basically give no return. At one time building shopping malls were a big draw for capitol. Farmland is still a part of their portfolio but I'd guess it fairly small. Many managed funds will use a moving average of some type to be their baseline of yeah or nay to buy or sell. If it keeps going up, keep buying more. Eventually the market will top. One thing that may have an effect (fundamentally) is wage inflation. Notice all the store and eating establishment windows with help wanted signs. The Triumph packing plant in Sioux City is having a hard time attracting enough good help as well. Standards are being dropped in some cases to fill positions. To get the better workers, pay rates will have to improve.
