You need to get a moister test it could look really dry but still carry moister. Chop fine add some water and put some silo guard on to help get rid of the oxygen.
Had a guy that wanted me to chop some sorghum that had gotten frosted hard. I told him I was picking corn now and it wasn't ready. By the time we got to it it looked totally dry and the guy was so mad he said forget it. I talked him into chopping it but said it was still to wet. Turned out being 80% moister
