Subject: RE: Hearing Silage Appraisals Now

Southwest wisconsin
Ours will be appraised next week. Green snap is going to hurt it bad. We were the garden spot until August and have not really had a measurable rain since. Silage appraiser said south west Wisconsin is down 30 to 40 bushels per acre from last year. Our field corn went 260 last year. The first of August I would have said this year's corn is better than last year's. Now I am thinking 200 to 220 tops. Ours is short day corn planted late April so it was pretty far along before the dry spell. Some of the neighbors planted longer day corn a month later and theirs is way behind. Will be interesting to see who was right this year on maturity and plant date.
