northeastern Ohio | I haven't seen any new or used ones put up this year. My uncle did put up a used 20x60 about 2 years ago for high moisture corn. It was 1998 when we put up our last one (25x90).
I've looked at the XL unloaders at Ag Progress Days for the last several years. I think they quoted me $60k for a 25' XL..... wow! They are beefy and should last a long time, but they will wear out just like everything else when exposed to silage.
I'll continue to use mine until I can't do my own repairs anymore. If I could find a good chain supplier, 90% of the problems would be eliminated. Seems I can break any chain they sell me (mostly due to improper hole punch on the connecting plates which cause microfractures for the silage acid to invade and weaken). | |
