I got one better.  Hwy. Dept. replaced all fence several years ago.  It was good wire but the idiots taking it down took the stays out then hand rolled all 4 wires up after they twisted them into a "tube" to make it easier.  Not sure how those guys did it but the hand rolls were hundreds of yards long.  It was like trying to untangle braided hair that was 300 yards long.  Damn shame the wire was in great shape and had the stretch taken out but was so time prohibitive to put up we buried or recycled most of it.  Kept a few rolls around to make new gates out of.  Had I don't know how many miles of it originally.

you unroll it and go to other end, tie one off and and stretch a wire. able to tell surprisingly quick if you got the right one. when you do, stretch it fairly tight and you can kinda 'shake' the others off.

now---you only got 3 to sort out...........
