Subject: RE: Distillers grain

Indiana
Brewers grain makes good feed for cows. I haul semi loads almost daily from a few separate breweries. All of it goes to dairy cows and gets mixed in their ration with silage. It's like a flavor enhancer. If not mixed, cows will dive straight for the brewers grain. I have an analysis somewhere in an old email, but above poster is correct at about 80% moisture. Some loads are drier, depends a lot on the breweries setup and how they transfer the spent grain from the lauter tun over to the trailer or tubs in your case.

To deal in tubs is too labor intensive IMO. You need to get a bigger container like a gooseneck dump trailer that you can leave there and switch out with an empty one each week. Then take home and dump in a bunker and feed with loader tractor. Life span is 2 weeks in winter, and 1 week in heat of summer. It will mold after that.
